In short
Mr Wells Maths collects as little as it can. There are no accounts, no adverts, no tracking cookies and no analytics. You can use almost everything on the site without giving any information at all.
Who runs this site
The site is run by Mr Wells (Mr Wells Maths). To ask a question about your information, use the contact form: choose “Request a resource / contact me” in the menu at the top of the home page, or at the bottom of the page. No email address is published here.
What is collected
- Live class games. When a class joins a live game with a game PIN, the server keeps the name a player types, the game PIN, and their answers or scores, so that the teacher can see a scoreboard. All of it is deleted automatically, kept for up to 12 hours (counted from the last activity in the game).
- The contact form. If you send a message, the name, email address and message you type are sent as an email to the site owner (the name and email are optional). If you use “Report a mistake”, the name and web address of the page are sent too. Nothing is stored on the site itself; it exists only as an email, which is used to reply to you and to fix or improve the site.
- Settings and saved worksheets. Things like your chosen options, progress in a puzzle or a saved worksheet are kept only on your own device, in your browser’s storage. They are never sent anywhere, and you can remove them by clearing the site’s data in your browser.
What is not collected
There are no adverts, no tracking cookies, no analytics and no social media trackers. The site does not ask for a date of birth, a surname, an address or a photo, and does not build a profile of anyone.
Where the site is hosted
The site is hosted by Vercel, which, like any web host, keeps standard server logs (for example the address of the device that asked for a page, the time, and the page requested) for security and to keep the service running. Live games also use a database provider to hold the short-lived game information described above.
Students: please stay safe in class games
Use a first name or a team name only. Please do not type a surname, school name, email address or anything else that could identify you. Names in live games are deleted after 12 hours.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see what information is held about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Because live game information is deleted after 12 hours and the contact form is only an email, there is usually very little to find, but you are welcome to ask. Use the contact form (see above) and say what you would like; parents and teachers can ask on behalf of a child. If you are not happy with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
